The Plan of Salvation

The Bible teaches that every sinner must obey the Gospel of Jesus Christ to be saved from their sins.

How exactly does a sinner obey the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

In other words, how does a sinner obtain the forgiveness of their sins?

Here is how…

To be saved and to become a Christian, every sinner must:

1. Hear the Gospel. “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17)

2. Believe the Gospel/ Believe that Jesus is the Son of God/ Believe in His Deity/ Believe that Jesus Died, was Buried and Rose again, Defeating Death. “Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.” (John 8:24)

3. Repent of their sins. “I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:3)

4. Confess their Faith in Jesus Christ before others. “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9, 10)

5. Be Baptized (Immersed) in Water For the Forgiveness of their Sins.
“Then Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.'” (Acts 2:38)

“And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.” (Acts 22:16)

Some other notable verses that show the necessity of baptism to be saved are:
Mark 16:16; John 3:5; Acts 8:36-38; Romans 6:3-6; Galatians 3:26, 27; Colossians 2:11, 12; 1 Peter 3:21; Revelation 1:5

Once a sinner has obeyed all of these steps, they are at that point forgiven of their past sins and are also added to the church of Christ by the Lord Himself. (Acts 2:47)

Prior to being saved, every sinner must come to understand that the church of Christ is the only church that can be read about in the Bible.

They must also understand that one must be a faithful member of Christ’s church to be saved! They need to understand that the church of Christ is not a denomination and that denominations are not Biblical. (1 Corinthians 1:10)

After becoming a Christian, we all must:
Remain Faithful to God Until Death. “…Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.” (Revelation 2:10)

Does the church that you are a member of teach this plan of salvation? If not, then it is not the one church of Christ that you read about in the New Testament.
